Animal feeds manufacturers decry hostile business environment
The Association of Kenya Feed Manufacturers have raised concerns over high cost of raw materials used in producing animal feeds. The association is now calling for urgent measures to be undertaken to prevent the livestock feeds sector in the country from imminent collapse. In particular, they want the government to review and allow importation of genetically modified products to enable use of materials such as soybean meal and yellow maize in animal feeds. The also want a ban on exports of milling by-products to improve quantities offered locally and therefore improve prices.
