VACANT POSITION: ANIMAL NUTRITIONIST

JOB SUMMARY:

To develop, manage and grow the company’s animal nutrition range in Kenya.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performing Products formulation guided by the company policies, industry standards, KEBS standards and International Standards.

Planning and organizing production schedules, assessing production and resource requirements, liaising with procurement for the smooth running of production operations.

Ensuring compliance with relevant authorities’ e.g. KEBS code of practice and any other that the company may be bound.

Analyzing budgets and continuously controlling production costs and identifying/rectifying waste measures.

Managing all activities within the production process, including maintenance and the workforce; assigning daily workload to junior staff in the department.

Suggesting and implementing process improvements to enhance production quality and capacity.

Assisting in employee recruitment, performance evaluation, promotion, retention and termination activities in the department.

Establishing workflow policies that enhance speed and efficiency without compromising product safety or integrity.

Checking the products for the right texture, packaging, stitching and labelling of the finished products in order to meet customer expectations.

Ensuring compliance to health and safety regulations for the employees working in production.

Ensuring that production targets set by management are met at all times and reporting any deviations.

Preparing daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual production reports as may be required from time to time you may also be assigned such other duties as may become necessary at the discretion of the Management.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

Minimum Degree in Animal Science/Health.

5 years’ commercial experience in Animal nutrition/production.

Possess an understanding of feeds processing techniques, with a working knowledge of economics so as to ensure the production of cost-effective feeds that also meet the animal’s nutritional needs.

Knowledge of livestock and animal diseases.

Good communication skills.

Ability to demonstrate the formulation of ideas and opinions in nutrition in ways appropriate to the organization and the public target audience.
